Duke Rehabilitation Institute

Open
Type:Duke Regional Hospital Inpatient Department
Hospital-based clinics are outpatient departments of an individual Duke hospital and have additional facility charges. Some insurance companies process bills with a deductible and coinsurance rather than as a co-pay as for an office visit. This may impact the amount of the bill you are responsible for after payment from your insurance plan. Check with your insurance company before your visit to determine what your responsibility will be.

The rehabilitation experts at the Duke Rehabilitation Institute offer a range of care for admitted patients who have lost physical and/or cognitive function as a result of illness, injury, or disease. Our inpatient rehabilitation facility is located in Duke Regional Hospital in Durham. We provide a comprehensive program of care that is personalized for each person we treat. Our goal is to help you achieve the most active lifestyle possible by restoring movement and independence.

About Us

CARF Accreditation BadgeThe Duke Rehabilitation Institute is a spacious, 30-bed facility that occupies two wings on the top floor of Duke Regional Hospital. We are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). In 2021, we admitted 565 people with 83% of patients discharged back to the community, compared to 81.2% for the region and 80.1% nationally.

To achieve this level of success, our facility features several services to help you reach your wellness goals:

  • Evening and weekend recreational activities, including pet therapy
  • Community re-entry activities

Along with rehabilitation with our experts, we recognize the value of connecting with peers who are also working to achieve wellness and movement goals. We can connect you with amputee, stroke, and spinal injury support groups for virtual or in-person meetings.

Learn more about our facility at Medicare.org.
