Duke Sports Medicine Services in One Convenient Location

January 29, 2015

At Duke Sports Medicine’s expanded new home, people can get all their needs met in one convenient location. The renovated clinic, renamed the Duke Sports Sciences Institute, brings together orthopaedic surgery, physical therapy, primary care, cardiology, neurology, sports performance, fitness, sports medicine, imaging, and other specialties.

More than Just a New Location

It also makes it easier for researchers who are studying sports performance and new therapies to better interact with the doctors who are bringing the new treatment options to their patients, as well as the students, residents, and fellows, who are learning about the latest advances in sports medicine at Duke.

“This is more than just a new location,” explained Benjamin Alman, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon and Chair of Duke’s Department of Orthopaedics. “It’s a new way for us to put patients first. Now doctors and scientists can work together on the development of innovative new treatment approaches. This facility distinguishes Duke as a premiere destination for sports medicine services.”

Advances for Athletes of All Ages and Skill Levels

Duke Sports Medicine treats everyone from youth athletes and weekend warriors to highly competitive professional and Olympic athletes. They come to Duke for surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation, as well as sports performance conditioning.

Newly Renovated Health and Fitness Center

The new Duke Sports Sciences Institute is located on Duke’s Center for Living Campus at 3475 Erwin Road in Durham. The facility is adjacent to the also newly renovated Duke Health and Fitness Center, which serves people of all fitness levels and health conditions. Physical therapy is also offered on the second floor of the Health and Fitness Center

The Duke Sports Science Institute was made possible by a $20 million gift from Dr. Steven and Rebecca Scott.
