Patient Advocacy Council Sample Initiatives

Patient Advocacy Council members are heavily involved in myriad projects throughout Duke University Health System.

Sample PAC activities include:

• Work on designing clinics to be more patient friendly, easily navigable, and efficient.
• Assist in methods to reduce patient waiting time.
• Advise way-finding projects associated with the new cancer pavilion.
• Participate in orientation programs, presenting talks on patients’ points of view to the new nursing staff.
• Present Health Care Decisions Day.
• Review materials designed for patients’ hospital rooms.
• Offer response to kiosk registration system.
• Create videos on advanced care planning for professionals and for patients.
• Provide in-staff training for TeamSTEPPS.
