Chancellor for Health AffairsVictor J. Dzau, MDAs chancellor for health affairs for Duke University, Victor J. Dzau, MD, leads one of the preeminent medical institutions in the United States. The chancellor also serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Duke University Health System. He strives to put the patient first and combine the various parts of Duke Medicine into a well-coordinated system that makes the most of what all the parts have to offer, enabling Duke to make the maximum contributions to its patients and society. "I am mainly interested in the global issues of health care, science, and medicine,” Dzau says. “The most important thing is to remember why we are doing what we are doing.
