Prior to joining Duke Raleigh Hospital, Vinsel served as chief operating officer of WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh, North Carolina, for more than 20 years. He also served in executive leadership roles at FirstHealth of the Carolinas in Pinehurst, North Carolina; York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania; and Euclid Hospital in Euclid, Ohio. Vinsel received his BA degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He received his master’s degree in health administration from Duke University in 1974. He also attended King’s Fund College of Hospital Management in London on a grant from The Duke Endowment. Vinsel is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, member of the American Hospital Association, serves on several boards, and is involved in numerous community activities.
