George S. Bisset III, MD

George S. Bisset III, MDGeorge S. Bisset III, MDGeorge S. Bisset III, MD, professor of Radiology and Pediatrics, is interim chair of the Department of Radiology and an internationally recognized specialist in pediatric radiology. 

A native of Florida, Bisset earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and his MD degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He performed his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the same institution. After practicing for several years at Tulane University, Bisset returned to Cincinnati to complete a radiology residency and a pediatric radiology fellowship.  Bisset joined Duke in 1994 as chief, Division of Pediatric Radiology and in 1995 became vice-chairman of the Department of Radiology. He was recently named interim chair.

Bisset has authored 125 publications and 21 book chapters, with primary interests focusing on CT and MRI of the pediatric chest and abdomen. He has held numerous academic and hospital appointments.  Bisset has served on 17 national committees and currently serves as a Trustee for the American Board of Radiology. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Radiological Society of North America, which delivers the largest medical meeting in the world.      

Bisset has been invited to participate in 37 visiting professorships and has delivered five named lectureships.
