In addition to its medical, nursing, and basic science graduate education programs, Duke Medicine offers a variety of other health-related educational programs:

Physician Assistant Program

The first such program in the country and a model for physician assistant programs at more than 100 colleges, universities, and medical centers nationwide.

Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

Through excellence in education, clinical practice, and research, the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program has gained an international reputation and, over the last ten years, has been ranked in the top three of all physical therapist programs in the country by U.S.News & World Report.

Master of Health Sciences (MHS) Pathologist’s Assistant Program

Duke initiated the first pathologist’s assistant program in 1969. Since its inception other programs have been established and the profession has grown in number and stature.

Master of Health Sciences (MHS) in Clinical Leadership Program

Duke University's School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Fuqua School of Business, School of Law, and Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy have joined together to offer the Clinical Leadership Program. Faculty members from these five schools deliver an in-depth and interdisciplinary program that is unparalleled in its resources, exceptional in its approach, and innovative in its mission.

Master of Health Sciences (MHS) in Clinical Research Program

The first of its kind, this collaborative training program between the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Warren G. Magnuson Clinical Center and the Duke University School of Medicine is designed primarily for clinical fellows and other health professionals who are training for careers in clinical research.

Allied Health Certificate Program (PDF)

Clinical Psychology – The Division of Medical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry offers internship training in clinical psychology to students who are currently enrolled in APA-approved PhD programs in clinical psychology and who have already completed three years of graduate study.

Clinical Pharmacy Practice – The Department of Pharmacy conducts a twelve month postgraduate program designed to give graduate pharmacists extensive training in clinical pharmacy practice.

Clinical Pastoral Education (PDF) – A graduate program in pastoral care and counseling is available to clergy, theological students, members of religious orders, and lay persons of all religious faith groups. The program offers three levels of training and five distinct program structures of clinical pastoral education.
